God, Cuomo
Hear ye, hear ye, it’s the latest installment of our current events show Tell Me About Your Father: Daddy Issues! Oh lord, this episode has much to digest: God, Texas, a very old woman eating raisins, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, the horror of spring, chandeliers, FKA Twigs, and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Speaking of Governor “as the father of daughters” Cuomo, when Elizabeth recorded her segment on his fall from grace for this episode it was Friday, 2/26. Back then, Cuomo stood accused of sexually harassing a former aide and lying about thousands of nursing home deaths because he was afraid of being ridiculed by Big Don Trump.
A second former aide has since come forward to accuse the Governor of sexual harassment. She also played middle school soccer with one of his three daughters, whose names he invoked over and over again in charming anecdotes last year during his daily Covid press conferences.
As actress and writer Tavi Gevinson wrote in The Cut recently about teenage girls, an article we also discuss on this episode, “This is why I don’t care if men accused of assault have good relationships with their wives or daughters or women they deem valuable. How do you treat women you have no stake in protecting?”
